Hey friends! Well, I am pretty sure I am NOT the only one feeling like Spring needs to move a little faster and get to New Jersey ASAP! I know we experience all four seasons but the older I get, the less patience I have for Winter haha! I find myself getting major cabin fever and that usually brings out that itch to rearrange and redecorate my home. I guess it's good that I have the honor of doing that for other people because it lets me scratch that itch without getting me into knocking down walls (that shouldn't be hahah) or beginning a paint job that we all know turns into a bigger project than anticipated!
Which brings me to my latest project reveal! I know I say it with every project but seeing the end result of this two-story family room literally had me squealing when I first saw it! Now you may be asking "why were you surprised when you put it all together?" This project was my Design Consultation service where I source all the furniture and accessories for you but it's up to you to do the purchasing and set-up. It's a great service for those who love putting it together but don't know where to start! Being that this client was local, I was able to see the end result, snap some pictures, and light up like they do on HGTV at the final reveal HAHA!
My client reached out to me with the most common dilemma I hear these days with new builds- a two story family room and not knowing how to arrange the furniture to have it feel cozy. The family has two small children but the family room is where they all hang out and the adults are beginning to feel overrun by kid toys. That is a feeling I know all too well! It's the exact feeling that motivated me to begin my business.
Here's some before pictures of the space:
The first thing I realized was that the sectional was in the middle of the room with a table behind it that was not being used. They also already had an accent chair and some other furniture that were still going to be incorporated in the design. A simple rearrangement of the furniture was a definite must.
Here is the design I came up with:
I wanted to give them an area they can relax in but also an area for the kids to play, draw and hang out while still being in the same room. There was also a ceiling fan that was not a necessity so we wanted to switch that out for a statement chandelier.
Drum Roll Please.....
As you can see, the furniture was rearranged to have better function and flow throughout the room. While adding two more accent chairs and new colorful accessories, this family room is now an area that feels cozy and appeals to all ages!
I know I say it over and over again but I love creating relaxing yet functional spaces in your home. What better time to breathe new life into your home than Spring?!
Until next time friends,
Maria
