Do not settle for ordinary...

Updated: Nov 1, 2020

Hey hey everyone! Here we are at the end of October and steaming full speed ahead into the holidays! I'm sure you can all can agree with me that this year can move quickly away haha. The projects that began but had to be put on hold have started again and this new master bathroom design belongs to one that we put on hold back in June. When she finally told me they were ready to move forward, I reviewed the original design and decided to revamp it completely 😂. Not only did her idea of what she wanted change, my vision for them changed. Your master bathroom doesn't need to be gigantic to make a big statement. I love the combination of the modern tile and rustic vanity along with mixing brushed brass and black metals. Simple, classic and exactly what my client wanted to offset the dramatic master bedroom. In today's world, our homes cannot be just ordinary, but extraordinary.

"Design is not about making things pretty just for the sake of it-

Nowadays, it can be categorized as a fancy sounding word, and there seems to be a certain amount of misconceptions surrounding it. But what is it really at its core? Is it simply a process to make pretty looking things? Far from it. It doesn’t focus purely on aesthetics, nor is it about adding ornaments to an item. First and foremost is it about making the user’s interaction with the environment more natural and complete."

-Strate, School of Design

I could not have found a better depiction of what designing means to me and what it means for you. Your home is just as much an investment for me as it is for you and I make sure the end result is one you are more than proud of.

Another project I have been working on for the last 6 months is this full home renovation. This is a top to bottom all out redesign of each room and a full kitchen remodel. It has been so much fun watching it all come together. I have shown you some of these designs but they have evolved since the original concept. Changes usually happen and that's not a bad thing! There's a lot of collaboration that goes into each design and getting to that end point takes both sides digging deep to create a home you feel complete in. For this home, I tapped into their colorful side and made sure to bring a bold pattern or color mixed with neutral items to each room. My clients entertain a lot and the dining room is where they hang out most so I wanted that space to be invigorating for not only them but their guests. Every room presentation has been where they say they never would've thought of that combination, which is my end goal every time. Designing is combining your interests, lifestyle and what is important for you while creating a palette you never would have chosen for yourself.

The kitchen will be completed mid November and I am just as excited as my clients because this is going to be an amazing transformation!!

As I said in the beginning, our homes-and I can't stress enough about it this year- shouldn't be a place we feel overwhelmed with. We all have our wish lists of what we have to do and what we want our homes to be. Don't be afraid to go out of your comfort zone and make your home extraordinary.

Until next time friends, stay healthy and safe!

Maria
