We all get that feeling....that itch that it's time for a change. It could be a change with clothes, hair or even lifestyle. It could also be with your HOME. Think about it. How long can you possibly stare at the same throw pillows, blankets or rugs? I'm constantly switching out my shelf decor but that itch comes for me to change out more pretty much with every season change. Mostly after taking down the Christmas decorations or when the temps begin to warm up. It's incredible how even the smallest décor changes can breathe new life into a room and completely transform its atmosphere.

Each tweak serves as a gentle reminder of our evolving tastes and preferences, fostering a renewed appreciation for our living spaces. This newfound love for our surroundings can have a profound impact on our overall well-being, enhancing our sense of comfort and satisfaction within our homes. Whether you're looking to update your space for the new season or just craving a change, these easy tips will help you transform your living room into a fresh and inviting oasis.

Swap out Throw Pillows and Pillow Covers:

You don't have to ask me twice to buy new pillows or covers! One of the quickest and most affordable ways to refresh your living room is by updating these. If your pillows are still in great shape and haven't been smushed by the kiddos or pets (or even us😆), go for the covers! Be mindful though when measuring. For square pillows measure on a diagonal and if you want extra fluffy pillows I sometimes choose a size down to get that extra puff. Choose pillows in vibrant colors or bold patterns to add a pop of personality to your space. Alternatively, opt for textured fabrics like velvet or faux fur to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere.

Rearrange Furniture:

Do this for those who can't! My living room can only go one way -booo- but when I did have the flexibility, I loved rearranging my furniture! This will give you a new point of view and can maximize space and functionality. Consider creating conversational areas with your seating arrangement or moving larger pieces of furniture to different walls to open up the room. Even switching side tables out for different ones or their location can open up the room.

Add Greenery:

Well this is a no brainer for me! Whether its faux or real, bringing the outdoors in by incorporating houseplants into your living room décor . Not only do plants add a touch of nature to your space, but they also help purify the air and create a calming atmosphere. Choose low-maintenance plants like succulents or snake plants if you're new to gardening, or opt for statement plants like fiddle leaf figs or monstera for a bold focal point.

Update Accessories:

Refresh your living room decor by swapping out outdated accessories for new ones. Consider adding decorative accents like candles, vases, or artwork to add visual interest to your space. Look for accessories in complementary colors or textures to tie your décor together and create a cohesive look. Remember the rule of 3s to make it more appealing, memorable, and effective than even-numbered groupings.

Incorporate Textiles:

This is a must....add warmth and texture to your living room with the addition of textiles like rugs, curtains, and throws. There's nothing more stark and cold than a room that has no added texture. Choose rugs in soft, plush fabrics to anchor your seating area and define the space. Opt for drapes with a beautiful pattern or velvet. I love adding a sheer layer under a heavier drape to close for privacy but still bring in natural light. It adds a softness to the window. I know many scare away from custom drapery but I cannot emphasize how much of a difference they make. And with companies like Decoratorsbest (save 15% with code FIRST15 always!) and Spoonflower you have endless fabric options at amazing prices! My favorite workroom that works with clients all over is regaldrapes.com.

Finally, drape cozy throws over your sofa or armchairs for an extra layer of comfort and style. I always have a chunky knit thrown over my chaise to quickly grab when I'm cold (which is always haha).
